Ingredients
- 80 g spaghetti
- 125 g cherry tomatoes (halved)
- 2 garlic cloves (finely sliced)
- 3 anchovy fillets (finely chopped)
- 2 handful black olives (pitted and dried)
- 1 handful fresh basil (leaves picked, reserving a few sprigs for garnish)
- 1/2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tbsp baby capers
- 350 ml boiling water
- freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- salt, to taste
The full plan
Split between two cooks — each step says who's on it.
1. Halve the tomatoes COOK 2
- Halve the cherry tomatoes
- Pit and dry the black olives
2. Slice the garlic COOK 1
- Finely slice the garlic cloves
- Finely chop the anchovy fillets
3. Pick the basil COOK 1
- Pick the basil leaves, reserving a few sprigs for garnish
4. Combine ingredients COOK 1
- In a small pan, place the spaghetti along with the prepared cherry tomatoes, garlic cloves, anchovy fillets, black olives, basil leaves and extra virgin olive oil
- Season generously with freshly ground black pepper and sparingly with salt
🤝 Cook 2 hands over the tomatoes.
5. Cook the spaghetti COOK 1
- Add 250ml of the boiling water and place over a medium-high heat
- Cook for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the spaghetti is just cooked through and the sauce has thickened
6. Loosen the sauce COOK 2
- If the sauce becomes too thick and dry for the pasta to finish cooking, add some of the remaining water, a little at a time, to help loosen the sauce
- Once cooked through, stir in the baby capers
🤝 Cook 1 hands the small pan to Cook 2.
7. Plate and serve BOTH
- Serve immediately, garnished with the reserved sprigs of fresh basil
